More then 25000 Kuwaiti Students in U.S.A
Kuwaiti students conference in Washington
Over 2,500 Kuwaiti students gathered in Washington D.C. to attend the four-day conference. It is considered an opportunity for students every year to interact with one another and to also interact with several Kuwaiti officials and figures who are keen on attending this national event. Many events are held on the sidelines of the conference, in addition to the students union elections, as well as a number of seminars, including an economic, political and athletic one.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah inaugurated here late on Thursday the 29th annual conference of the National Union of the Kuwaiti Students (USA) branch, held under patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
In his speech before the conference, entitled “Kuwait: more beautiful with working hands,” the Ambassador delivered on behalf of the students greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and thanked the patron of this conference, HH the Prime Minister and also extended his personal greetings to the students.
The Ambassador stressed in his speech his keenness every year to personally attend this conference to “revive my hope and optimism in Kuwait’s future one year after the other.” He affirmed that the conference this year is distinctive as it is held in the U.S. capital following a fierce election campaign witnessed across the U. S. and was witnessed by the whole world.
He added that this conference is even more important as it is held 11 days after Kuwait’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the ratification of the Constitution and only eight days before the parliamentary elections are held. Sheikh Salem addressed the students reminding them that Kuwait needs them now and to give back “to our country, protect it and protect its unity, as Kuwait has given us so much.”
The ambassador noted that Kuwait is going through “critical” period which it will come out of much stronger and more united, calling on the students to be a “productive” future generation. He continued saying that “what we witnessed a few weeks ago following hurricane Sandy proves that your high sense of responsibility as you joined together to ensure the safety of your colleagues in the affected areas.”
The Ambassador took the opportunity to praise the member of the Union’s administrative body for their efforts in cooperating with the Kuwait Embassy and the Cultural Office during the destructive hurricane and other natural disasters. “Our role is huge and important in representing our dear Kuwait here in the US, to reflect the civilized picture of our society and its rich history and heritage,” the Ambassador remarked.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait Dr. Mohammed Al-Hashel said in his speech before the conference that he feels pride “that we are all united and gathered here towards the goal of seeing Kuwait more beautiful, more developed and more prosperous.” He called on the students to take advantage of their studies in the U.S. and to learn from this experience and enrich themselves with new cultural horizons but to remain attached to their identity and culture.
He affirmed that reform and development in Kuwait depend on strong pillars among which are political stability and national harmony. Dr Al-Hashel stressed that Kuwait is currently facing many challenges “but I have confidence in our ability to overcome this period with all the difficulties it carries,” thanks to the qualified human recourses that are represented in the students.

My name is Palestine , #kuwait #palestine
My name is Palestine, I have been under occupation since 1948. Since then, my people have been killed everyday. From unborn children being ripped out of pregnant women, to the elders being dragged out of their homes, beaten up brutally, knocked down on their knees and lined up to be killed. Mothers lose their children everyday, wives are left widowed and children are left orphans. My people live in fear everyday, knowing that any minute, their front door will be kicked down by Israeli soldiers and will be shot down one by one. Knowing that their children, mothers and fathers may never return home due to being killed by the Zionists.
My children are seen as terrorists because they throw stones at the Zionists tanks and drones. The media has made me look like a terrorist state and my people as the enemy. The media makes Zionists look like the victim. The media makes it look okay for an illegal state under the International Law to take over the home of innocents. (Via Saima)
My name is Palestine. I exist. My people exist. And though I don’t exist in the media’s and Zionists eyes, though I don’t exist on the map, I exist in the heart of millions around the world.
