The Pumps 4 Kids campaign is under the umbrella of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society in association with the Dasman Diabetes Institute to raise funds to provide insulin pumps for children with type 1 diabetes in Kuwait.
This form of therapy has numerous advantages relative to other forms of treatment; however due to it’s high cost only 10% of children in Kuwait have access to insulin pumps. Kuwait has the seventh highest incidence rates of type 1 diabetes in children under the age of 14, which highlights the importance of this cause.
The funds raised by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society will be provided to the Dasman Diabetes Institute to purchase the insulin pumps. It will then provide the insulin pumps to children, and offer them both training and on-going support to adjust to this new form of therapy.
Insulin Pumps can go a long way towards protecting Diabetic children from the physical and emotional suffering caused by 1,460 insulin injections every year.
