FAIPS – DPS ORGANIZE INTERSCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS
FAIPS DPS is indisputably the forerunner of the educational programs which provide an excellent opportunity for the student community in Kuwait. Once again FAIPS unleashed the potential of the students by organizing the first Model United Nations – Emulating the United Nations General Assembly on 29 and 30th April 2016 in the school auditorium. 6 schools with a total of 30 delegates participated in the two day long competition which was a long cherished dream.
Prior to the competition, an extensive workshop cum practice session was conducted for all the delegates by the MUN club members- B.V.Sri Vidya (Class 12), Dwaipayan Bhattacharya (Class 12), Satwika Bhasin (Class 12) to familiarize them with the rules and protocols with regard position papers, moderated caucus, emergency crisis and so on and so forth.
The proceedings on the first day began with the inspiring speech of Mrs. Anju Dheman, the Principal of FAIPS DPS. In the enlightening speech, she stressed upon the need to have a global perspective to combat the predicaments that plague the present world. The proceedings then began with a General Assembly session where the country delegates debated at length on ‘Transnational Terrorism: A Threat to International Security’. The competition not only added on to their experience of leadership but also helped them tap their analytical skills during the emergency crisis.
The Best Position Paper, Best Speaker, Best Delegate of the Assembly were awarded. The Best Position Papers were awarded to David Mathew (ICSK), Sakshi Sreenivasan (ILOA), Srinithi Jayakumar (GIS). The Best Speakers Award was awarded to Sudharsan Rathnakumar (ICS), Rohit Chandrahas (IES), Jaidev Shriram(FAIPS- DPS). The Best Delegate award was awarded to Shiv Govind (IES), Shaik Mathar (ICSK), Rony Antony (FAIPS- DPS).
This successful event under the guidance of Ms. Anju Dheman(Principal FAIPS- DPS) and Ms. Harvinder Anand (HOD- Social Science FAIPS-DPS) was organized by B.V.Sri Vidya (Secretary General), Dwaipayan Bhattacharya (Director), Satwika Bhasin (Director), Mayank Jain(Assistant Director), Tony Xavier( Assistant Director) and Naman Khimavat .
