In a move that will provoke internal and external reactions at all levels, a number of citizens plan to submit a request to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor next month to announce a gay society in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.
The representative of the society, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the daily, “A long discussion took place among 30 founding members, which resulted in taking a decision to make an application next month to the Ministry of Social Affairs to approve the establishment of the society under the name of ‘Freedom’, pointing out that the goal of the society is to promote awareness and culture to both the society and the gays.
He added homosexuals will be able to join the society provided that a member plays an active role in raising awareness and help homosexuals who are subjected to harassment and persecution.
He also added: ‘We submitted a request in 2007 and was rejected, but this time the reasons are based on human rights and civil and economic rights of homosexuals.
