Arrested in Hawally , Kuwait
The joint committee affiliated to the Council of Ministers in coordination with securitymen from Ministry of Interior carried out a campaign targeting violators of residency law from cafés in Hawally area. During the campaign, more than 60 female domestic workers were arrested for working in cafés frequented by men, reports Al-Rai daily.
It was discovered that most of these domestic workers were reported as absconding by their sponsors. Upon seeing the securitymen, they tried to escape but in vain, as they were apprehended by the fully-prepared committee.
Many were found to be dressed inappropriately. They have been referred to the concerned authorities for deportation. In this regard, Chairman of the committee Mohammad Jaloud Al-Dhufairi disclosed that the number of residency law violators working in cafes exceeds 65.
He affirmed that expatriates caught working for people other than their sponsors will be punished and those who employ them will be fined, stressing that ‘wasta’ or influence will not be entertained and tolerated for the release of any of the violators.
Al-Dhufairi indicated that there are a huge number of such violators in the country’s labor market and there is dire need for correcting the situation, affirming that the Public Authority for Manpower is exerting tremendous efforts to restructure the labor market.
