China investigates possible hantavirus outbreak
Local authorities in the Chinese district of Yunnan on Tuesday declared start of an investigation about possible flare-up of hantavirus after a citizen infected with the disease died on Monday.
According to the Chinese television, CGTN, the man died after traveling aboaRd a bus heading towards Shandong province. Thirty-three other people were on board of the same bus. The man who first appeared sick was taken to a local hospital where he died four hours later. He was diagnosed with antivirus.
Yunnan recorded between 2015 and 2019 some 1,231 infections with hantavirus — including a single fatality. Rodents are said to be source of the virus; however it does not spread from one human being to another.
