Sports Event : The 26th Arabian Gulf Cup

Khaleeji Zain 26 stands as one of the premier football tournaments in the Arabian Gulf region, taking place every two years. This prestigious event brings together eight nations from the Gulf area to compete for the championship title.

Originally referred to as the Arabian Gulf Cup, the tournament has adopted the Khaleeji Zain name for the second consecutive edition. This change follows an agreement established with Zain, a prominent technology and digital lifestyle company, prior to the previous tournament held in Basra two years ago.

The festivities kick off with the Opening Ceremony and the inaugural match on December 21, continuing until January 3, when the final match will be held.

Khaleeji Zain 26 will see the participation of eight national teams: Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Games will be conducted in Kuwait City at two major stadiums: the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, which has a capacity of 57,000 spectators, and the Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Stadium, accommodating 15,000 fans.

The competition features two groups of four teams each. The top team from each group will face the runners-up from the opposing group in the semi-finals, leading to a final that will decide the champion.

Kuwait holds the record for the most championship titles, having secured victory 10 times since the tournament’s inception in 1970, with their most recent win occurring in 2010.
