The Cabinet Ministers decided approval of a draft law amending Article 17 of Law No. 8 of 1969 with the health and preventive needs of communicable diseases, which aims to increase the penalty for those who violate the provisions of this law or the decisions implementing it by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, and a fine not exceeding five thousands of dinars, or one of these two penalties, as well as the severity of the penalty for anyone who violates the decisions mentioned in Article 15 of this law related to the epidemic of imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, and a fine of not less than ten thousand dinars and not more than thirty thousand dinars , Or one of these two penalties. .
The cabinet also introduced a provision that punishes those who know that he has one of the communicable diseases and caused the infection to be transmitted to others deliberately with the intention of imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years and a fine of no less than ten thousand dinars and not more than fifty thousand dinars, or one of these two penalties.
The Cabinet decided to submit the two bills to His Highness, the Amir of the country, in preparation for their referral to the National Assembly. He also decided to create a temporary fund to receive cash contributions to support efforts to tackle the Coronavirus.
The Council agreed to amend the budgets of government ministries and departments to cover the needs to tackle the coronavirus. The Council expressed thanked Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for facilitating the movement of trucks between the borders.
