The All-New Grand Carnival and Sorento aim to build on the remarkable success of their predecessors by offering distinctive class-leading style, safety and comfort in their respective segments.
Rethinking the Minivan
“With the All-New Grand Carnival, the #1 selling minivan in Kuwait has improved in every aspect, with the aim of cementing KIA’s domination of this important segment,” explained Mr. Ahmad Al-Mutawa, Chairman & CEO of Al-Mutawa Group.
Based on the widely-renowned KV7 concept, the 8-seater Grand Carnival sports an eye-catching exterior characterized by a wide stance and boxy profile that is designed to deliver maximum interior space. Inside, the Grand Carnival features elegant styling and features which can compete with minivans from premium European brands. It is worthwhile noting that Grand Carnival also comes in 7 & 11 seats combinations. It was named Best New Car Design at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
Customers can opt for features such as 20.3cm touchscreen navigation, DVD player, tri-zone a/c, power doors and tailgate, blind-spot monitor, keyless entry, cruise control and more.
“There is no question in my mind that the all-new Grand Carnival will play a role in redefining modern-day minivans as both functional family movers and incredibly stylish automobiles,” added Al-Mutawa.
All-New Sophisticated SUV
The All-New Sorento exhibits a unique blend of style, practicality and technology, which builds on the success of the outgoing model. The new SUV’s smoother, swept-back profile and deeply sculpted surfaces introduce a higher level of sophistication for the third-generation model, delivering a premium look and feel, with more space and numerous innovative features.
“This midsize SUV reflects KIA’s evolving design philosophy which continues to win so many awards, while continuing the KIA tradition of offering the latest technology in our cars,” commented Al-Mutawa.
The designers of the third generation Sorento named their inspiration for the new car as ‘Streetwolf’. Although the styling changes are evolutionary, they subtly alter the character of the Sorento, highlighting its sleek, sinuous, profile, while creating a sophisticated appearance and ensuring the new model has a bolder on-the-road presence that has resulted in the Sorento winning the prestigious ‘iF Design Award’ from Germany.
Inside the Sorento is where some of the most significant improvements are to be found. Interior styling was led by the brand’s European design team, based in Frankfurt, and KIA’s designers have created a more sophisticated, more luxurious cabin, featuring significantly higher quality materials.
One of the most distinctive interior styling features is the Swiss watch-inspired user interface, which incorporates KIA’s latest HMI (human-machine interface) technologies, surrounded by new silver-look border.
Available in 5- or 7-seat versions, the new Sorento features debuts a number of new, advanced on-board technologies to improve convenience and further enhance the ownership experience. New available features will include: an Around-View Monitor with four cameras helping the driver to manoeuver when parking and a Smart Power Tailgate.
In terms of safety, 53% of the body structure, compared to 24% in the previous generation Sorento, is now constructed from Ultra High Strength steel. Moreover, buyers of the new Sorento will be able to choose from a wealth of ‘active’ safety technologies including ASCC (Adaptive Smart Cruise Control); LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System), which emits an audible alert when the driver strays from the chosen lane without using indicators; FCW (Front Collision Warning); BSD (Blind-Spot Detection); LCA (Lane Change Assist); RCTA (Rear Cross-Traffic Alert), which warns against other cars driving behind the Sorento in car parks; and SLIF (Speed Limit Information Function), which displays the speed limit in the driver’s instrument cluster based on cameras detecting roadside signs.
