New parking system at Kuwait International Airport
United Projects for Aviation Services Company (UPAC), a commercial real estate and facilities management company operating and managing Kuwait International Airport, has started the implementation of a new state of the art parking system at the Airport car park. UPAC manages over 24,000 square meters of commercial space at Kuwait International Airport, Sheikh Saad Terminal and other locations within Kuwait.
Currently used at major airports around the world, including Dubai, London Heathrow and Munich, the new parking system is the first of its kind in Kuwait and is aimed at improving car park operations and providing customers with smoother and faster parking services, even during peak hours.
The new system will utilize modern technology measures such as the use of automated pre pay systems as well as license plate recognition technology, which are expected to further enhance the flow of traffic and provide the traveler with a more efficient and stress free travel experience. Frequent users of the car park can also opt for a subscription option which will allow them to enter and exit the facility using auto pay stations, without stopping to pay.
Nadia Akil, CEO of UPAC highlighted: “With the relationship we share with the Kuwait International Airport, UPAC is focused on providing enhancements aimed at improving the airport experience for the end user. We recognize that everyone’s time is valuable and by investing in certain improvement such as the new car park system, we hope that this will improve traffic flow and hence the overall efficiency of operation at Kuwait International Airport. We ask all airport parking users for their cooperation and patience during this time of transition”
The transition to the new system has already taken place and to date, six entrance and seven exit units have been installed as per the planned implementation phase. All parking gates are expected to be completed and fully operational by January 2015.
Akil continued ’‘We have been working closely with the DGCA in implementing these changes and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the DGCA for their continued support and cooperation. We look forward to introducing further improved services in the coming future.”

The parking system is a joke for a major airport. Last week it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get out of the airport. Note that charges are higher with time. So you pay the higher amount because chaotic conditions delay getting out. As I said, its a cruel joke and increases stress levels significantly.
