Owner of the house will be fine KD30,000 to KD200,000 fine
Compensation will be granted to those who suffered damages caused by the heavy rains, while others will be obliged to pay huge fines for committing violations which resulted in the floods, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources said the Environment Public Authority (EPA) received a notification from the Ministry of Public Works, stating that a house owner in Ardiya disposed construction waste and hazardous materials in manholes which were blocked during the heavy rains, thus, the rainwater drainage was affected.
Sources confirmed Environmental Protection Act number 42 of 2014 and its amendments will be applied and the owner of the house will be fined not less than KD30,000 and not more than KD200,000.
Sources added the Ministry of Public Works received a number of reports on the fl ooding of some streets and houses, and a thorough inspection of the place revealed that the manholes in the place were blocked due to the violations committed by the house owner.
