Grace period to set price for hiring domestic workers ends
The grace period within which the offices for domestic workers are expected to hand over sealed envelopes of their quotations to the committee formed by Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al-Rawdan to set the price for hiring domestic workers from outside Kuwait ended Monday, reports Al-Rai daily.
Fake maids offices cheating citizens and expatriates busted
Officers from the Residency Investigation Affairs General Department in the Interior Ministry arrested members of two dummy domestic labor offices, one of which encourages housemaids to run away from their sponsors by promising double their salary and the other operates as a daily maid services center.
Dozen arrested
Residency detectives raided a fake domestic help office in Jleeb Al-Shuyiukh, where 12 residency violators and absconders were arrested with a large number of fake receipts and stamps.
2,048 maids deported
More than 2,000 domestic workers were deported following their arrest in crackdowns against domestic help offices carried out in the past 10 months, an Interior Ministry official announced yesterday.
No Maids to Kuwait
