The present stance of the government related to imposing taxes on remittances of expatriates gives it an opportunity to approve or dismiss the tax system. They revealed that the government has not yet adopted a firm opinion regarding this matter.

Update 17.11.2016 – The government is planning to impose taxes on expats’ remittances and companies, and privatize healthcare and education. According to informed government sources, a special ministerial committee has already prepared a package of economic and financial reform legislations to be presented by the new Cabinet and referred to the new parliament in mid-December. Tax proposed on expat money transfers – Rate up to 5%
MP Faisal Mohamed Al-Kandari has proposed imposing tax on money transfers of expatriates. In a press statement, Al-Kandari pointed out the State of Kuwait hosts about three million expatriates who transfer money to their countries, which reached KD 19 billion in the last five years and this amount is equivalent to the national budget of Kuwait for one year.
