The Project Management Committee between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia has agreed on the results of a study about the railway project linking the two countries. This study looked at how the project would affect finances, the economy, technology, and society, focusing on moving passengers and goods.

An official from the government said that they are getting ready to start the “initial design” phase of the project soon. They will invite international companies to help with this part.

The official also mentioned that they plan to start building the railway in 2026. Officials from both countries are visiting each other and meeting regularly to discuss the project and inspect the site to solve any problems.

The railway is expected to carry 3,300 passengers every day, with six round trips. It will cover about 500 kilometers in one hour and 40 minutes at high speeds.

The ticket prices for the train trips will be affordable, competing with both plane and car travel in terms of speed and cost.

The official stressed that they want to speed up this important project, which will enhance railway connections, economic integration, and trade between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

While the Kuwaiti-Saudi railway link is separate from the Gulf railway project, the official confirmed that the train would start from the Shaddadiyah area and go to Riyadh.

The project is expected to be completed in four years. It is part of several joint projects between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to promote economic integration and strengthen their historic relationship.

The Council of Ministers has asked the Ministry of Works and other relevant parties to speed up the project and provide regular progress reports.
