8,273 expatriate teachers and 8,060 Kuwaiti teachers will be retired
As per Arabtimes, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al- Essa indicated about a plan to refer for retirement the teaching and administrative staff members of kindergarten level, who completed 30 years in service, in order to relieve the ministry of the excess number of female teachers which is currently 6,605.
The minister declared this on Thursday during the closing ceremony of the drama training course for female kindergarten teachers inside auditorium of Jabriya Kindergarten. He explained that 6,405 of the female teachers are Kuwaitis and 200 are expatriates.
The ministry has been considering referring for retirement a total of 1,173 teachers in June — 1,120 Kuwaitis and 53 expatriates.
The mandatory age for other educational levels is 34 years. Dr Al-Essa also revealed that 8,273 expatriate teachers and 8,060 Kuwaiti teachers will be referred for retirement prior to the end of this year.
