Filipino Maid tortured for 6 years and no salary
As per Arabtimes,
In one of the worst cases of abuse of domestic helpers, the Criminal Court has set March 15, 2016, to look into the case of a Kuwaiti woman who stands accused of torturing her maid for six years, burning her and not paying her the salary for the entire period, according to a statement given by the maid to the Public Prosecution, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Case papers indicate unable to bear the pain, the Filipino maid finally escaped from the house of her sponsor and sought help from her embassy in Kuwait. She told the embassy staff she had not been paid her salary for six years and instead was subjected to all sorts of torture and was kept locked behind the doors to prevent her from escaping.
Attorney Sultan Al-Tuwalah representing the Philippines Embassy in Kuwait said he has prepared the case papers and at the same time expressed his dismay at the sponsor for being so cruel, a behavior rejected by all religions.
