Kuwaiti Female Tourist died in Turkey due to accident
The multiple vehicle collision occurred Tuesday night at 8:00 pm local time (5:00 pm GMT) in front of the Dolmabahçe Palace in the district of Beşiktaş on Istanbul’s European side.
A motorcyclist heading from Beşiktaş harbor area in the direction of Kabataş neighborhood randomly decided to stop in the middle of Dolmabahçe Avenue for unknown reasons. A high-end automobile right behind the motorcyclist also made an abrupt stop so as not to hit the bike.
The Sarıyer-Taksim municipal bus behind the high end vehicle attempted to maneuver away from the stopped vehicles, but the driver lost control of the wheel and entered the opposing lane, plowing into a panel van and two automobiles traveling in the opposite direction from Kabataş to Beşiktaş. One female Kuwaiti tourist, Shahad Bin Salamah, and the driver of the panel van, İrfan Bilgili, died on the scene. Salamah flew out the window of her car and was pinned under the panel van.
7 people were injured, 3 of them critically, among the passengers in the bus, panel van and private automobiles. Several ambulances and fire trucks were dispatched to the scene of accident. The lightly injured were treated at the scene. Firemen had to extract two injured people who were stuck in their vehicles.
