New X-Ray Machine Traps Asian Carrying Drugs at Kuwait Airport
Following the installation of the Soter body scanner device at the Kuwait International Airport,
the customs officers were able to arrest an unidentified Asian who attempted to smuggle into the country 20,000 drug pills hidden in his baggage, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the contraband and the suspect have been referred to the concerned authority. Meanwhile, the Director- General of General Department for Customs Khalid Al-Saif said the fingerprint attendance system will be enforced on all employees of the department by the end of 2015.
Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah conducted Thursday an inspection tour of Kuwait International Airport, during which he checked the ports security department’s level of preparations for the forthcoming Hajj season, urging the department to provide all facilities for pilgrims as quick as possible, in addition to secure their safety from the moment they leave the country and until their return.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the efforts exerted by security men at Kuwait International Airport in implementing all tasks and missions assigned to them by the ministry, as part of its emergency plans, pointing out their capabilities and efficiency in deal ing with such tasks.
