Traffic Department Issues 46,933 Citations In 7 Days
The General Traffic Department (GTD) conducted a series of security campaigns in the six governorates from Aug 9-15, leading to the issuance of 46,933 traffic citations, impounding of 2,519 vehicles, arrest of 37 motorists for committing serious violations, and referral of 23 expatriates for deportation as they were found to be driving without a license.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior disclosed these campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to address traffic problems in various areas throughout the country.
The ministry confirmed the GTD will continue these campaigns to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations in a bid to guarantee smooth flow of traffic and to protect the lives of road users
